From “Puppy Biting” (15 min) — Fixing Puppy Behaviors.

The protocol

  1. 1
Leash on whenever they’re out of the crate.

The leash is your lifeline — you can’t touch a puppy with your hands without rewarding them.

  2. 2
Mouth or bite → say “No” once.

That’s your first reaction, before anything else.

  3. 3
Pick the leash up about a foot from the collar and pull them away from you.

Too close to the neck and they swing round and bite you. Hold until they relax — they don’t need to sit or lie down.
